After joining TMCI in 2007, Matt began working on Doug Sutherland's re-election campaign. As campaign coordinator, Matt wrote campaign updates, managed website content, organized fundraising events and grassroots outreach, performed opposition research and helped produce TV and radio ads. After the election, he began working with online start-up PriceDoc.com to help develop their initial marketing campaign, which consisted of TV, radio, online and print advertising. Along with office coordination, field research and legislative watch, Matt also organizes the annual June Leonard Memorial Mini Golf Tournament, a fundraiser in Olympia for non-profit Treehouse.

Matt was born and raised in Hillsboro, Oregon. Coussens received his Bachelors of Arts in political science and U.S. history from Gonzaga University. He now lives in Seattle.
